It is a pleasure to announce a new chapter to the fruitful collaboration between the groups of Dr. Shun Takahashi from Kyoto Institute of Technology (KIT, Japan) and COPS. The collaboration notably highlighted a three month sabbatical stay by Prof. Takahashi at COPS (see here) and joint research published in Physical Review (see: Tajiri2020, Takahashi2023).

Now, it is a pleasure to announce that Prof. Shun Takahashi and MSc student Rika Nakanishi visited COPS this month to kick off a new exchange program for MSc and PhD-students between COPS and prof. Takahashi’s team at Kyoto Institute of Technology, for which our Japanese partners secured prestigious funding from the Japanese Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT). Since Ms. Nakanishi is slated to be the first exchange student on this program, she received an extensive tour of the COPS facilities, an introduction into COPS research, and last but not least she attended the festive PhD defense of Andreas Schulz (see here).

So all you students interested in a funded internship in the beautiful city of Kyoto: come on over to see us! 🙂
