COPS congratulates alumnus Dr. Martijn Wubs for being appointed Full Professor (earlier in 2024) in the Department of Electrical and Photonics Engineering at the Technical University of Denmark DTU (Danish: Danmarks Tekniske Universitet). His team “Quantum Photonics of Low-Dimensional Systems” investigates new ways to use light, and studies how to create ever smaller light sources to meet the world’s need for communication technologies in a more energy-friendly way. As an enthusiastic advisor, Martijn is also actively engaged with undergraduate and postgraduate teaching. Martijn wrote a beautiful thesis at COPS on “Quantum optics and multiple scattering in dielectrics” under the guidance of Ad Lagendijk and Leendert Suttorp. Moreover, Martijn was a key person in our adventures on Foerster resonant energy transfer (FRET) in nanophotonics (with @Christian Blum, @Vinod Subramaniam and colleagues click) including an elegant theory paper.
