| Abstract | Many materials such as skin, paint, and paper, are opaque due to scattering of light. For a long time light scattering was believed to be a nuisance, which strongly limits the use of all imaging methods. In my research I worked on a new technology that enables control over the propagation of scattered light. With this revolutionary technique we experimentally demonstrated -for the first time ever- that it is possible to focus light deep inside completely opaque materials. Furthermore we developed scattering lenses with which can image with a sub-100 nm resolution; much better than even the most expensive commercial microscope objectives. |
